Sometimes noisy and foreboding, other times delicate and lonely, "Three Pieces" is the sounds of the city translated into music. It is very much a portrait of the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, N.Y., during the summer of 2007, which at that time was the center of building frenzy. To some degree, Transcension represents work in the more vernacular electronic vein, as there is ample percussion, and rhythmic tension in each of the pieces. A four song EP from 2003, the song Transcension uses subtle beats over a funk bass with a gothic chorus. A Moist Mirage in Desert Eyes, a protest song against the Iraq war, mixes dub rhythms with constantly shifting artificial vocalisms...
